Thoughtful Site Selection and Construction
We chose the site for Tamu Seseh on ‘tanah kering’ (unproductive land) to ensure no rice fields were affected. Instead of rainforest timbers, plantation woods were used. Additionally, our design reflects village buildings and the ‘Balinese Compound’ concept, enhancing the authenticity of the environment.
Environmental Preservation
Protecting the environment was a priority, so we avoided felling rainforest and coconut trees, even though it resulted in fewer villas. Wildlife found on our grounds is relocated to safer areas. Furthermore, low-energy light fixtures and natural breezes help reduce energy consumption, which in turn lowers our carbon footprint.
Commitment to Sustainability
Our choice of construction materials from Indonesia supports local industry and creates job opportunities. In addition, we employ local villagers whenever possible, benefiting the community. Recycling practices and composting garden refuse further contribute to our efforts to minimize waste effectively.
Waste Management and Eco-Friendly Practices
For waste management, we installed wastewater gardens to purify discharge from septic tanks. This ensures all waste meets WHO standards before returning to the groundwater table. As a result, we help keep underground streams clean and prevent wastewater from damaging Bali’s reefs.
Community Involvement
To promote eco-friendly transportation, free bicycles are provided for guests to explore the district. Active participation in the local village council and support for village activities demonstrate our commitment to the community. Moreover, our contributions to the local temple and the establishment of a ‘Villa Owners Association’ aim to support local schools and improve the environment.
